As a missionary I believe it is God's plan that the world be reached
through the local church. Therefore, our primary purpose as
missionaries is to start local Independent Baptist churches.
Upon arriving in Uganda as missionaries in July of 2002 we began
to prepare for the work that the Lord had called us to do. After
making several trips to Mbale we were able to find a house to rent
and moved down in June of 2003. During the next several months
as we got our house set up we began to share the Gospel with those
we came in contact with. In October we were able to find a place to
rent and began meeting for services on Sunday mornings. On
Wednesday evenings we would meet with those who had accepted
Christ and disciple them. During the next year as people had been
saved and taught about what a local church is we organized into the
Mbale Independent Baptist Church in August of 2004. In October
we learned that the landlord wanted to double our rent so we began
looking for a piece of land to buy for the church. The Lord blessed
and directed us to a piece of land with a great location in Mbale town.
There was already a small building on the property that could be used
to meet our need for a small church building. The Lord provided the
money needed to buy the property and we met in that small building
for three years as the church grew. With people sitting outside the
windows and on the floor inside, it became evident that a new building
would be needed. In March of 2007, we broke ground on a building
that will be later used for our Bible college and Sunday School classes,
but at the present could be used for the main auditorium. As the Lord
provided the money to build we were able to build the building in four
phases over the next year and a half. Praise the Lord in November of
2008 we were able to begin having services inside. We now have a
building large enough for our church with space to grow!
